If you design but do not sew, or sew but cannot keep up, we are the technical partner you are missing: industrial pattern making, digitisation and grading, prototypes, sample ranges and small production runs with no minimum order. We communicate in English.
Taller Costura Barcelona Cleo is a garment development and small-batch production workshop at Carrer de Galileu 22, Sants-Montjuïc (08028 Barcelona), run by Cleo, a dressmaker trained in industrial pattern making. Open since 2023.
What does the workshop do for a fashion designer?
The technical work between the sketch and the garment: drafting the industrial pattern, digitising and grading it, making the toile or prototype to check fit and finish, and cutting and sewing the sample range and small production runs.
Designers usually arrive with a clear idea and a garment that does not hang like the drawing. The problem is almost always the pattern, not the sewing. Our side is technical and honest: if a raglan sleeve will not work in that fabric, we say so at the briefing, not at the second sample. The design is yours; the engineering is ours.
We work with industrial machines (straight-stitch, overlockers and coverstitch) and combine hand pattern making with digitisation and industrial grading, so garments fit well in every size before going into production.
How much does small-batch production cost in Barcelona?
Prototypes, sample ranges and short production runs are quoted case by case depending on the garment, complexity and volume; a basic pattern costs €60–120, a complex one €120–280 and grading €20–40 per extra size.
Prices vary because a t-shirt and a trench coat are not the same job. To give you a price we need to see the tech pack, sketch or a photo of the garment and know the approximate number of units. Send it on WhatsApp or through the form and we will reply with an initial estimate.

How does the process work?
Initial estimate, pattern, prototype, sample approval and production; we do not start production until you have approved the sample garment.
Many small brands and design studios from Poblenou and the 22@ district get in touch with us, and if you are outside Barcelona we work by courier for made-to-measure and production.
Estimate
Send the tech pack, sketch or a photo and the approximate number of units, and we reply with an initial estimate.
Pattern
If you already have patterns, we go straight to cutting. If you only have the design, we draft the patterns, grade them and advise you on fabric.
Prototype
Before cutting the final fabric we make a toile or first sample to check fit and finish.
Approval
We do not start production until you approve the sample garment.
Production
Cutting and sewing of the sample range or the run. Outside Barcelona, we ship by courier.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is there really no minimum order?
None. We specialise in small runs and limited editions, and can make anything from a sample range to a larger production run.
Do you make a prototype before production?
Yes. Before cutting the final fabric we always make a toile or first sample, and production only starts once you approve it. Timing depends on the garment and on the workshop’s workload, so we give you a date when we estimate the project.
Do you advise on fabric?
We advise you on the most suitable fabrics for your design before sewing. Who supplies the fabric and trims is agreed when we estimate the project.
Do you produce non-fashion textiles?
Yes. We have made technical products such as waterproof stain-resistant bibs and handmade saddle pads, and we make professional uniforms.
Can you work with my existing pattern?
Yes. We review and industrialise it if needed and make the prototype. If the pattern has problems we tell you before cutting.
