Hem taken up layer by layer, bodice fitted on you, straps, bustle and corset back. Two or three fittings in our Sants workshop, simple alterations from €80 and complex reworks €250–400. Bring the dress at least 4–6 weeks before the wedding, or 2–3 months before for complex work.

How much do wedding dress alterations cost in Barcelona?
From €80 for simple alterations and €250–400 for complex reworks at Taller Costura Barcelona Cleo: the hem is from €60 in plain fabric and from €90 in lace or tulle, taking in the bodice is €80–150, and a full overhaul of several areas is €180–350.

When should I start, and what should I bring?
Bring the dress at least 4–6 weeks before the wedding so there is time for fittings and adjustments; for a size reduction or design changes, 2–3 months before is ideal. Come to the fitting with the shoes and the underwear you will wear.

Atelier vs. bridal shop: where should you have your wedding dress altered?
If the shop includes alterations in the price, do them there; if they charge extra, if you bought online or second hand, or if you want design changes, an independent dressmaker like Cleo gives you more room: we alter shop-bought, online, second-hand and inherited dresses, and we also make design changes.

Can you alter a wedding dress I bought online?
Yes, also second-hand or inherited dresses. We assess the fabric and what it needs at the first fitting; a full overhaul of several areas is €180–350.
What is a bustle and do I need one?
A bustle is a set of hidden buttons or hooks that lifts the train so you can walk and dance at the reception. Quoted at the first fitting.
How many fittings are there?
Usually two or three, more if the bodice needs a lot of work. The first to pin everything, the second for fine adjustment and the bustle, a third if the changes are large.
I am flying in for my wedding. How do we organise it?
Tell us your dates. You can send us your dress in advance by courier, with photos and measurements over WhatsApp, and we plan the fittings around your travel dates.
Do you also make wedding dresses to measure?
Yes, from €950 without fabric; ideally start 4–6 months before the wedding. Ask us or see the Spanish page vestido de novia a medida.
Can you alter the groom’s suit too?
Yes: jacket shoulders, back and sleeves, trouser hems, crotch and waistband, and the waistcoat. See bespoke suits and tailoring.
